This fine art greeting card features a blacktail buck (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) freezes upright from his cool morning drink, ears outstretched and eyes straight ahead, he is alert to his surroundings. He poses broadside against beautiful autumn colors and a sparkling creek trailing off into a blanket of fog in the distant mountains.

When startled, black-tailed deer often launch into a bouncing gate called "stotting." This pogo-stick like jump allows them to travel quickly over brush.
